Log Update

05/03/2012 - And there we go! Ima's getting in to a bit of sex and violence, the staples of entertainment! Don't worry, for the majority of the rest of the chapter, there's plenty of violence ahoy as cloaked assailants appear and maybe we'll even see what happens to that rice vendor fire! Outside of Ima, I've been working on my mixing skills and it finally got to a point not too long ago where everything I did before that point was utter crap and I would just be annoyed listening to them (I love it when that happens with my art; it's such a wonderful feeling!). I've made three since this point with real beat matched transitioning and it sounds wonderful. I actually look forward to driving because I know I'm going to be listening to something that I put together with songs that made me do what would be the closest I'll ever come to a music-based double take when hearing them for the first time. Granted, I'm staying away from negative lyrics at this point, going back to the first cd I mixed somewhat recently, pulling out the melancholic songs and replacing them with much more positive songs or else practically lyric-less songs, in some cases, and then giving them that proper transition from one song to the next that I oh so adore now.

I also finished watching Buffy - The Vampire Slayer, wrapping up season 7 last week. Going with my theme of dissecting sociopathy in entertainment, it's clear that vampires are a sociopathic scourge that are being loosed upon the world. They are soulless creatures who don't care how they hurt others as long as they get what they want but in that rare case where a soul is restored, the grief and sorrow from all the wrongs they have committed and all the people they've killed suddenly hits them in full force to practically destroy them. I have to wonder if a cure for sociopathy was developed and administered, would it be nothing but a death sentence to live in pain and sorrow over the actions committed throughout one's life or would be a clean slate, waking up one day to experience the world through new eyes. To think that a sociopath would be incapable of living a life with a conscious if it was granted to them is just a sad thought, moreso than the thought of living without a conscious and never being able to experience love. Granted, in most cases, the actions of a sociopath would not equate to mass killing, so the fallout wouldn't be nearly as horrible as the redemption one lost soul seeks in Buffy.

I really enjoyed Buffy, other than season 6, but I can't think of something with Joss Whedon's name on it that I haven't enjoyed. I went out on Tuesday to catch Cabin in the Woods before it left theaters and that was... well... pretty much what I would expect from Whedon: awesome! It played with all the stereotypes and the horrible setups that appear in so many slasher movies and gave a real (and generally hilarious) reason for the events to unfold as they did. It's one of the few times I've watched a horror movie and haven't thought to myself how stupid such and such person was. The creature designs were a lot of fun, too, which is one of the main reasons I watch Silent Hill every so often.

Anyway, until next time when there may be more violence but no vampire violence and I type about more miscellaneous crap!

Superfluously,
Ryan Bunter
